Vehicles and equipment

BIEA currently has two long wheel-base Landrover Defenders that can be hired by researchers at well below commercial rates. Please contact our Research Fellow for further information.

BIEA also has an extensive range of technical equipment that can be hired by researchers at minimal or no cost. These items include an EDM Total Station, Dumpy levels, Trimble GPS unit, Garmin GPS unit, satellite phone, digital and film SLR cameras, compact digital cameras, digital audio recorders, microscopes, solar panels, portable generators and a wide range of excavation equipment.

A wide range of camping and kitchen equipment are also available and can be loaned for free on a first come first serve basis. A full listing of the BIEA's equipment and appropriate booking forms can be downloaded on clicking here.

Risk Assessment guidelines can be found here and a simple risk assessment chart must be submitted to the Research fellow for any projects involving BIEA staff, students or equipment.
