Research Fellow in Eastern African Archaeology – Dr Matthew Davies

Dr. Matthew Davies took up the newly created post of Fellow in East African Archaeology in October 2010, following two years as Assistant Director. The position is held jointly between BIEA and the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research at the University of Cambridge.

In Cambridge Matthew is busy with writing up and planning ongoing research as well as teaching on core archaeology papers. He also hopes to establish an undergraduate option paper in African archaeology from 2011.

In Kenya Matthew is involved in a number of research projects including ongoing research into the development of intensive farming and herding communities in the Pokot and Marakwet areas of Northwest Kenya, and the Karamoja region of Eastern Uganda.
