BIEA Newsletter

BAzaniaIEA produces two major journals, Azania and the Journal of Eastern African Studies. BIEA members receive either JEAS or Azania free as part of their subscription package.

Azania
Azania is a leading archaeological journal, presenting peer-reviewed work of international quality. It has been published annually since 1966.

From 2009 Azania will be renamed 'Azania: archaeological research in Africa' and its remit will be expanded. It will publish peer-reviewed papers and briefer research reports, as well as book and conference reviews, on all aspects of archaeological research in Africa. The editorial team consists of: Professor Peter Mitchell; Dr Bertram Mapunda; Dr Kevin MacDonald; and Professor Peter Robertshaw.

Azania will appear three times a year (March, July and November) in conjunction with Taylor and Francis Ltd. Guidelines for submissions can be found here.

Journal of Eastern African StudiesJournal of Eastern African Studies
The Journal of Eastern African Studies, launched in 2007, features academic articles from a wide range of disciplines. JEAS is produced in cooperation with Taylor and Francis Ltd. and appears three times a year in March, July and November. The editorial team consist of: Professor David Anderson; Dr Hassan Arero; Dr Joyce Nyairo; and Professor Paul Tiyambe-Zeleza.

All submissions should be made through the publishers, details of which can be found via their website.
